Government Creates New Recruitment Category in CAPFs for Ex-Agniveers

 


In a reply to questions in the Lok Sabha, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) released a press note on 21 July 2026, stating that the Government of India has created a new category in the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Rifleman in the Assam Rifles for Ex-Agniveers.

According to the press release, 50% of vacancies will be reserved for Ex-Agniveers. They will also be granted a three-year relaxation in the upper age limit, while the first batch of Ex-Agniveers will receive a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit.

The press release further stated that Ex-Agniveers will be exempted from the Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and the written examination.

Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that a dedicated wing has been established under the ministry to look after matters related to Ex-Agniveers.
