The posterity breathing the dust of the brick kilns.

“Migration is an expression of the human aspiration for dignity, safety, and a better future. It is part of the social fabric, part of our very make up as a human family” said former secretary general of the united nations. But who cares the safety of the migrant labourers in the Kashmir valley? What about the dignity and the future of their children? Most of the workers in the brick kilns in the valley are from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. A rough estimate states that around 300000 labours migrate to Kashmir every year. The brick kilns in the valley heavily depends on these migrant workers. After the abrogation of article 370 there has been a rise in construction activities in kashmir. It need more labours now than ever before. The economic, social and lack of development of a particular place are the reasons behind the migration.
